Abarai Loki is a Jedi who has, like many others, taken refuge within The Wheel. Despite his age he possesses maturity, confidence, and power far beyond his young years. He is the sole survivor of an Imperial attack upon the secret training facility where he had been raised from infancy and has since ventured forth into the vast awaiting galaxy. Along his travels, he has encountered a host of colourful characters, such as Acacius Blade, Jackson McGraves, and Ann R. Key, with whom he has embarked, albeit reluctantly, on a series of whacky, eye-opening adventures leading him at last to a place he can call home.

Appearance
Loki is unlike most teenage boys. He is short and underdeveloped but despite this his youth is hidden behind an expression of permanent indifference. His most notable features are his eyes, which are stark cyan, and his hair which has grown radically spiky over the years. Prior to his rendezvous with the Jedi of the Wheel, he wore whatever unassuming attire he could get his hands on unless, as was the case with Acacius Blade, he was coerced into wearing outfits which were positively ridiculous.
Now he is never seen out of his own unique Jedi garments which consist of a simple black tunic with a white undertunic, a belt of plain white cloth, and in place of the standard tabard he wears a sleeveless white haori in keeping with the traditional dress of his family. Secretly, Loki takes a great deal of pride in his appearance but would never openly confess to such shameful vanity.
Personality
Loki never had a childhood. Before his first birthday he was taken from his parents and spent his entire life in seclusion, training in the ways of the Jedi. Consequently, he defines himself as a Jedi rather than a person, this is revealed in his first conversation with Acacius Blade in which he claims that being a Jedi is more than a mere occupation, to him it is a way of life and he views personal desires as petty and selfish. Sadly, this outlook on life reveals him to be somewhat out of place within normal society and coupled with his sheltered upbringing, he is found to be humourless, naive, and to an extent, quite tactless.
Throughout the years of relentless training, Loki has developed an indomitable sense of discipline and perseverance. The taunts of older students gave him a hunger for self-improvement, a hunger that has never been fully sated, and the desire to excell and to surpass his peers haunts him to this day. Conversely, neither is it his wish to hoard knowledge and power for himself, in fact he sees it as his duty as a Jedi to help others rise beyond the plateau and train them to the best of his ability. In this capacity, his age and appearance are a considerable handicap since it is in people's nature to disregard him as a nothing more than a child with delusions of grandeur. This is when his patience is most tested and suddenly, the veneer of perfect serenity and control begins to flake.
Upon first impression, it is common for Loki to come across as rude, cold, and arrogant. When he was very young, his master informed him that he was the youngest son of a noble family held in high regard on his homeworld of Alderaan. This revelation has left a lasting impression on him, particularly since his heritage was blown away with the rest of the planet, and it is Loki’s belief that he owes a great debt to his parents, and the family name, for the sacrifice they made to the greater good. Thus being of noble stock, his manner is that of an aristocrat; he is taciturn and serious with no time for jokes or nonsense, coupled with his social inexperience this makes him seem condescending and elitist. Far from adulthood, Loki has pride ingrained into his soul due to both his noble and Jedi heritage, and takes grave offense to those who try to sully his pride.
In combat, he is a deadly calm opponent with a lightsaber skill that is matched only by his confidence. He has been taught not to fear death or hesitate to kill, his belief in justice is absolute and is swift to deliver it by the edge of his blade.
History
When Loki was eight years old, he was little more than a child soldier with no family or home. He knew nothing of his own parentage or history outside of the strict tutelage of his master and consequently regarded such information as trivial and sentimental. Then one day his master took Loki, and another boy two years his senior called Roku, beyond the walls of their secret training facility and deep into the forest. There he told them, for the first time, all about the evil Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance who fought against it.
Then he told them a story about a man and woman of great nobility who sacrificed everything they had for the good of the Rebellion and the galaxy. Kobor was the head of the family, he commanded great respect amongst the aristocracy on his homeworld of Alderaan and owned vast expanses of rich farm land, the profits from which he invested secretly in the financing of Mon Mothma’s underground rebellion against Emperor Palpatine. His wife, Siera, was president of the board of trustees for the University of Alderaan’s Department of Scientific Research and Analysis. She was a highly intelligent and well-connected woman who commited resources and funds to the construction of an illegal facility responsible for producing the Rebellion’s earliest surveillance technology. This secret laboratory was said to be the birthplace of Alliance Intelligence.
Kobor and Siera had two sons, infants who were blissfully unaware of the turmoil all around them, protected from it by their parents’s wealth and influence and love. But when it was revealed to them that their children were gifted with the grace of the Force, they knew there was only so much a parent’s protection could do, especially under the suspicious scrutiny of the Empire. So they made the ultimate heart-breaking sacrifice and allowed their sons to leave Alderaan and go into hiding with their grandfather, who was instructed never to return until the Emperor was overthrown and peace was restored to the galaxy once more. He took the boys to the remote world of Maridun where, many years previous, he had built a hidden bunker and there he trained his grandsons, along with a couple of other younglings, in the ways of the Jedi. The noble family name was Abarai, and their infant sons were called Roku and Loki.
It was then the boys were told of Alderaan’s destruction, and the tragedy of their mother and father’s sacrifce was made painfully real. Roku, aged ten then, had difficulty accepting the string of sudden revelations; his noble heritage, the death of his parents, his grandfather’s secret identity, whereas Loki was relatively unphased by the tale and promptly returned to the facility to resume his training. However, that night he swore an oath to himself and to the memory of his dead parents that he would honour the sacrifice they made and would restore peace to the galaxy as a Jedi Knight.
In the years that followed Loki engrossed himself in his training, even his grandfather noted that his discipline and dedication was beyond that of even his oldest student and while he excelled in the Jedi arts, Loki’s relationship with his brother, Roku, diminished. Roku had changed, as he entered young adulthood he grew angry and frustrated, alien qualities which only served to drive a greater wedge between the siblings. And yet, it was in the conflicted Roku that their grandfather and mentor, Tosca, invested the most time and attention. For Tosca had also changed, and instead of wisdom, with age had come a sense of urgency and impatience. The other padawans believed the old man feared he would die before he saw his life’s work complete. Such speculation didn’t concern Loki, who remained coolly absorbed in his studies and training, and by his thirteenth year he had surpassed his peers and was unmatched with a lightsaber. And despite this, he was left behind. Tosca and Roku disappeared for days at a time on secret missions, occassionally taking one of the other boys, but never Loki, and when questioned about their mysterious disappearances, they told him stories of stranded caravans of peasants and abandonned Imperial shipments. Sadly, the boy’s sense of blind duty never allowed him to investigate further and his grandfather’s secret missions led ultimately to a series of tragic events which resulted in betrayal and death.
When Acacius Blade found Loki, he was alone in a stand-off against a pair of Dark Jedi, guarding the fallen bodies of his grandfather and brother and friends. The attackers were quickly subdued by the curious stranger but not a moment later, he and the boy found themselves under attack from an Imperial ground assault and quickly escaped. Loki has never spoke of the tragedy which unfolded that night, it is a secret which is as closely guarded as his proud heritage, but in the wake of those events he left behind everything he’d ever known in an instant, and took to the sky, orphaned to the stars.

The Boy Who Lived (link)
Discovered by Acacius Blade confronting a pair of Dark Jedi, Loki is seen defending the remains of his fallen comrades amongst the ruins of what was once their home. Acacius disposes of his attackers and introduces himself to the boy in his trademark flamboyant fashion. Loki is wary of the stranger but when faced with a surprise Imperial assault on his home, he accepts his assistance and escapes into the surrounding forest. They comandeer a shuttle and make a hyperspace jump, escaping their pursuers.
Brash Blackadder and the Seasick Kid (link)
Knowing precious little about the galaxy at large, Loki trusts in the wisdom of his companion and with great reluctance, resigns himself to a plan which involves them both donning disguises and venturing into the unsavoury underworld of Nar Shaddaa. They intend to sell parts from the Imperial shuttle they stole in exchange for a vessel suited to their needs, something low key. The difficulty is in finding someone crazy enough to deal with a man like Acacius, a man who, Loki discovers, is very difficult and quite insane.

Three weeks following his escape from Maridun, Loki managed to stow away on a ship from Nar Shaddaa and made his way to Coruscant, ridding himself of his nuisance travelling companion in the process. Quickly, he found himself in the lower levels, surviving on scraps and on the lookout for hints of Jedi whereabouts. In the news there was mention of a mysterious vigilante, someone called the Hero of Coruscant, and suspecting the hero to be of some worth to his cause, Loki went in search of him. However, skulking the lower levels will almost always lead to trouble and when Loki is confronted by a gang of thugs, who should turn up but the masked vigilante himself? A chaotic cantina brawl ensues and the youngster discovers the Hero of Coruscant isn't quite what he'd expected.

Shortly after parting ways with Jackson McGraves, Loki by chance came across an unusual advertisment in the Holonet Classifieds offering a "hidey hole". Despite the advert's dubious grammar, he noticed a message hidden within the body of text which provided a comm number for... Jedi? He made the call and spoke with a bizarre woman called Ann R. Key. They arranged to meet in a cantina on Dantooine and as promised, she brought him to her ship, the Tarbaby, and helped the young Jedi find a new home. She brought him to the Wheel.
When Life Gives You Lemons... (link)
While wandering the Valiant, Loki comes across a spirited young woman having difficulty levitating nuts and bolts in the hangar bay. Her name is Corell Capstan, a fiery blonde padawan with a short temper and colourful vocabulary. Sensing her frustration, he asks her to abandon her meditation excercise and tackle one of his own challenges instead. Soon she finds herself hurdling animated supply crates and dodging flying tools on a suitably makeshift Jedi assault course. Intrigued by her determination, Loki watches and ponders the warrior he could sculpt from such an unwieldly ball of potential.

Loki's worst fears realised, Acacius Blade finds the Wheel and after a thorough investigation into his suspicious appearance, he seeks out his young Jedi friend for a tour of the lonely fleet. Unfortunately it seems neither of the old travelling companions have changed since their last meeting and once more the unstoppable force and immovable object clash with disasterous results.

In the aftermath of a brief skirmish with Imperial forces, the Jedi of the Wheel gather to discuss their future and their role within the Alliance that strives to protect them. Ideals clash and there is a call for decisive leadership amongst the elders to answer the all important question: fight, or flight?
Taking in a Stray (link)
Orryxian adept Akasha Khan arrives at the Wheel and is greeted by Abarai Loki and his apprentice Corell Capstan. Immediately, the young Jedi seeks to put the new arrival firmly in her place and, in obliging her wish to be tested, forgoes the tradition of bringing her first before the elders and instead pairs her off against Corell in a ruthless fist fight.
When There's Nowhere Else to Run (link)
In the calm of the early morning, Loki meets Inyos Aamoran, a distant and private man who shares his enthusiasm for solitude. After two days they start to talk, Inyos broaches the topic of starship piloting to the young Jedi, and offers to teach him to fly in his own shuttle, the Viridian Knight. Cooped up in a cockpit the following morning, the pair of social misfits start to form an unlikely bond and, in place of discussing starship maneuvers, they begin to exchange the darker truths of their past.

The latest addition to the Wheel, a gruff ex-serviceman called Anbira Hicchoru, watches padawans train in the cargo hold of the Whaladon. He is approached by Loki and asked about his military history. When he confesses his dueling inexperience, Loki offers to remedy it by crossing blades with him there and then. The first duel is brief, Loki tests the limits of Anbira's skill and draws the battle to a close with his formiddable speed. They agree to meet the following day and discuss the finer points of lightsaber combat, tactics, and the psychology of a duel. In their second engagement Anbira is quick to learn and forces Loki to adapt to his Djem So and Shien techniques, and finally engages his opponent as an equal.
The Cool of the Morning (link)
Loki comes across a curious old preacher called Solomon. He is deep in prayer when they meet and it isn't long before the inquisitive youngster is challenging him about God and his beliefs. Although an adamant sceptic, Loki is stunned to hear Solomon's tale of how he was redeemed from the Dark Side. The story stirs his imagination but he finds great frustration in Solomon's claim that it was God who brought him back from the abyss. In walks Anbira Hicchoru to not only support the old preacher's claims of redemption but provides both of them with irrefutable proof and a powerful message from the voices of the past.
Growing Older (link)
Old friends Solomon and Loklorien s'Ilancy revisit their youth with an engaging duel, attracting the attention of Abarai Loki. Impressed by their efforts, Loki offers praise and expresses a particular interest in Loklorien's use of Vaapad. She allows him to inspect her weapon, a unique lightsaber gauntlet, which he promptly goes about testing in vigorous fashion. When he rejoins them, they reminisce the old days of the Jedi Order and share with him their stories, highlighting important differences between the direction of the future and the traditions of the past.
Changing of the Guard (link)
Drin Kizael, the hulking Trianni master, summons Loki to the captain's conference room to attend an important discussion along with Navaria Tarkin and Daria Nytherciria, there they will discuss the future of the Jedi Order, its leadership, and the role he would have to play in it.
Errand Boys (link)
Dispatched to the moon of Strombard IV, Loki, Sanis Prent, and Cirrsseeto Raurrssatta were tasked with locating a missing freighter called the Waywarder. They navigated treacherous terrain, seeing off some of the moon's hostile inhabitants, to find nothing but a distress beacon. It wasn't until after a brief skirmish with Akrabbim, a strange hermit with unusual powers, that they were led through a network of dark caves to the true crash site of the Waywarder. Inside they found the sole survivor, a little girl called Niyen, who explained that their attackers didn't care for the old cargoship but rather those who would come looking for it. The trap was sprung, and the race was on as an Imperial shuttle full of stormtroopers descended on the Layla.

Flight records stolen, the Layla returned from Strombard IV and alerted the fleet of the impending danger. Not moments later, the threat emerged from hyperspace - an Imperial Star Destroyer - claxons sounded, starfighters scrambled, and the Rebels braced themselves for a desperate fight for survival.
Welcome to the Middle of Nowhere (link)
Morgan Evanar was greeted by a rather irritable Abarai Loki, who was more concerned with Sanis Prent's disregard for protocol than he was greeting new members of the Jedi Order. After a misplaced bit of humour and a baffling disappearing act, Loki resigned himself to his duties alongside an equally bewildered Loklorien s'Ilancy, and made a mental note to keep an eye on this latest arrival. He was a strange one.
The Wheel's Strongman Club (link)
Cirrsseeto is confronted by Loki about the contraption he is building in one of the Whaladon's expansive cargo holds. It is a makeshift bench designed for weight-lifting, and always eager to improve his own physical condition, Loki offers to join Cirrsseeto in the excercise. They take turns in spotting and lifting, the youngster following the instructions and example of his cizerack companion, and steadily they forge an understanding of each other. While Loki is innitially uncomfortable with Cirrsseeto's open and friendly ways, and takes objection to his chosen nickname, he is made aware of a number of surprising similarities between himself and the hulking engineer. In finding some common ground, he shows an interest in Cirrsseeto that he'd never before displayed in even the grandest of Jedi company, and for the first time in his life he was able to be open with someone without fear of compromising himself.
Young Blood (link)
When Loki arrives at the crew cantina aboard the Valiant he notices a familiar face. Tionne Thanewulf, outspoken Jedi Knight and all-round fiesty red-head, humouring the attention of a gawking drunken mechanic. He quickly intervenes and the young drunk retreats to his friends, leaving Tionne alone at the bar with Loki's company. The pair exchange barbs and are quick to pass comment about the other's incapacity to conform to what is normal. All differences are put aside however when a brawl ensues and they go to work, each seeking to bring an end to the fight in their own unique Jedi way.
The Waking Past: Sanctuary Lost (link)
After the brawl, Tionne and Loki encounter Acacius Blade and a party on tour of the Valiant. The Jedi Master unceremoniously abducts them and leads the way to the bridge where repairs on ship's long-range sensors are underway. Acacius assists with the repairs and when the long-range sensors come back online they detect a large ship floating aimlessly through a nearby asteroid field. It is Sanctuary, an ancient Jedi vessel from the days of the Old Republic; legend speaks of its destruction but a team of Jedi are dispatched to investigate and uncover the truth of this strange ghost ship.
Fallout: The Vulture's Nest (link)
Following the suspicious disappearance of an important scientist on Honoghr, Acacius Blade and Abarai Loki are sent to investigate. They meet Dr. Giger, he briefs the Jedi and prepares them for the harsh environmental conditions of the poisoned planet. Shortly into their investigations, the Jedi realise there is much more to this mystery than the simple matter of a missing scientist; Professor Allmach had a legacy and a message of warning to share with the galaxy.
An Overdue Call (link)
When James Prent contacts Barton Henning, and informs him of what happened to Serena Laran on Bespin, a chain reaction of events follow leading to a mass congregation of Jedi, gathered to discuss one important question: how do we rescue Serena Laran? The discussion is swift and the decisions decisive; Corell Capstan, Anbira Hicchoru, and Abarai Loki forward themselves for a mission to Cloud City to ascertain the whereabouts of the wayward Jedi Master.

Following their mission to Bespin, Anbira, Corell, and Loki fly with the crew of the Bad Mamma Jamma to Dac to meet with important figures in the Rebel Alliance. There they will collate intelligence with one of the Rebellion's field agents, discuss their offensive options with the military, and finally plead their case to a sympathetic ear within the Alliance's hierarchy in the hope that their ambitious rescue mission will be approved.

Lightsaber Combat
Normal infants shake rattles. Abarai Loki held a lightsaber. The iconic symbol of the Jedi Order has been ingrained into his life to the extent that the young Jedi does not think of it as merely an extension of his arm, but his soul. The lightsaber is central to his beliefs and his concept of what it means to be a Jedi. His proficiency with the weapon is exceptional; years of dueling experience with his master and brother have allowed him to refine his swordsmanship into a style which is swift, precise, and confident. He has an impressive understanding of the seven forms, preferring the second for its efficiency, utilizing the fourth to compliment his speed, and embracing the dangerous philosophy of the seventh form to make him a formidable opponent in battle. Loki has always been highly competitive and strives for excellence in his studies, naturally, there is not a day that goes by in which he attempts to improve his Jedi skills and it is his secret ambition to master an eigth form of lightsaber combat.
Force Powers
While he prefers the purity of physical combat, Loki has a solid grasp of numerous abilities which use the Force to augment his warrior attributes. He can move with blinding speed and compensates for his stature with unnatural strength, impossible heights become short leaps, and his senses razor sharp. However, his Jedi powers are not only limited to the body, on several occassions he has displayed a gift for telekinesis, able to lift a number of objects at once or move a single object, such as his lightsaber, with impressive accuracy. He also has some limited healing ability.
- Rokudo ("Roku Blinked" translated from Dojii; -kudo "to blink"): A technique invented by Master Barabas Tosca which allows a Jedi to travel impressive distances instantaneously. Using a combination of enhanced speed, strength, and a burst of telekinesis, Loki's old master was capable of moving up to ten yards in a single step. In effect, the Jedi launched himself like a bullet from one spot to another, and while it required an incredible degree of focus to move at such speed, it was even more difficult to bring oneself to stop. In his duels, Master Barabas was able to include a single winning blow into his Rokudo step, but in doing so left himself vulnerable to attack afterwards. Loki perfect this move and often used it against his brother Roku, who found himself powerless to stop it, earning the technique its rather apt name.
Intelligence
Probably the greatest of Loki's powers is his intellect. Due to his studious nature, Loki has a gift for absorbing and processing vast quantities of information and applies his knowledge, not with wisdom, but with a hard calculating mind. He has a powerful sense of curiosity and learns quickly from people and his experiences; he has recently been recieving instruction in basic starship engineering and piloting from Cirrsseeto Raurrssatta and Inyos Aamoran respectively. His grandfather and master, Barabas Tosca, taught him in both Basic and Dojii, the language of Alderaan nobility. And on top of his Jedi training he has learned how to carry out basic droid repairs and is groomed for a life of combat and hardship.
- Combat Tactics: A highly perceptive fighter, Loki is able to analyze an opponent's attack patterns, and quickly formulate a strategy to answer the threat. In battle he has proven himself both cunning and insightful, capable of discerning an enemy's weaknesses and taking decisive action to exploit them in his favour.
- Survival Skills: The shadow of the Empire looming over their hidden home, Master Barabas ensured his students were prepared in the event they were forced to take refuge in the wilderness. Consequently, Loki is no stranger to weathering the dangers of the wild outdoors and is a stickler for precaution.
- Field Medicine: In ensuring his padawans were combat ready, Barabas Tosca taught them the techniques of field medicine he picked up during the Clone Wars. Loki is trained in first aid and is fully capable of assuming the role of a frontline combat medic should the need arise.
