Sitting in my inbox this evening was the following email:

Recently I attended your student seminar on Shakespeare authorship at the state library; as an educator who loves to see young people excited about literature, I couldn't help but be impressed with your enthusiasm and commitment to such a controversial topic. After talking with Mr. Whatshisname, the principle of SuchandSuch High, we would like to invite you to be a guest speaker during the 2006/2007 school year. We have six classes who have shown interest in having you and, depending on the outcome, we are considering the possibility of holding an optional assembly for students who wish to learn more on the subject. I called, thinking it was just going to be a voluntary thing which I so would have done anyway, except that they want to pay me! To talk about Shakespeare! Shakespeare authorship! That's like someone paying Willy Wonka to eat his own chocolate! Or something like that but I'm too excited to think of a more appropriate illustration!
