Thread: Familiars

    Warrior hands.

In a strange way, Senni felt herself swell with a small bit of pride at that estimation. She had always wanted to be thought of as a warrior, ever since deciding to follow in her brothers footsteps.

"Well then," she grinned slyly, an expression that she tried to limit in the past, for worry that Sar would read it the wrong way.

"I... " she dusted her hands of any speck of unseen particulate, "... I am going to go have me a well-deserved morning shower, then."

She gave Sar a knowing look, that was a strange combination of 'that's right' and 'my thanks'. There was no real adequate description for it, and without allowing her gracious host to try and further decipher it, Senni headed from the kitchenette and towards the back of their small, shared flat on a mission for the wondrous bliss of the sonic shower.

Saricia waited with an unaccustomed curious expression at Senni's pause, her brows knitted in thought as her guest departed for a shower. The woman was an enigma to the young lupine, which meant Senni was good at her job she supposed.

Mug in hand, she sipped and walked to the fridge, opened it and took out the left overs. She hip checked the door closed and set the containers on the counter in order to warm up the oven. As that would take a few minutes, she decided to push the window open and sit on the ledge. The smell of industry hurt her nose but the sounds of the familiar residents living their lives with normal chatter and everyday motions always warmed her heart.

She sipped her tea and closed her eyes, letting the Force and her own natural abilities hone in on that life to rejuvenate her mind and spirit for the day much like the shower did for her body.

Stepping from the shower, Senni relished the clean feeling. Her hair was far less mussed and tangled, and she allowed herself a moment to simply enjoy the experience.

Fifteen minutes later found her wandering back into the kitchenette, fresh clothes donned and her boots held in one hand as she moved to the small table. Sar was in the window, enjoying the morning in her own way. It was always a little bit strange when the other woman let herself 'phase out', as it were. Like she was in some sort of trance.

Senni had been told that Saricia Ask'lan was a Force user, but had opted to live away from the Jedi on Ossus. Perhaps because Captain s'Ilancy was there every now and then? It would make sense, given the level of disdain for the Captain that Sar had. As though she just wanted to be left alone. Knowing what she did (which honestly wasn't a lot), she supposed she couldn't blame her.

Still, curiosity was a hell of a thing, and Senni let her boots down on a chair before moving back to her mug and taking it up. She meandered the short distance to where Sar sat on the ledge.

    "Credit for your thoughts?"

Saricia already knew Senni had returned and the thunk of boots against the chair drowned out the clanging of pots in the unit next door. Without opening her eyes, she took a sip of her warm tea. "Meditating."

Slowly she opened er eyes and looked apologetic. "Sorry it interfered with warming up breakfast."

Untangling her feet, she slipped off the ledge and gracefully rotated her body to avoid touching Senni. She downed the last of the tea before it got too cold, set aside the mug, and opened the oven. Despite the heat, she pushed the containers inside. With that situated, Saricia zeroed in on the boots.

With a upturned nose, she picked them up and let them dangle off her fingers. A normal being wouldn't be able to hold heavy boots like without them dropping. "Chairs are for sitting."

It was a ritual that had become almost an everyday occurrence, the issue of her boots and where she tended to put them. It was something that Senni found a small bit of enjoyment from, and now was certainly no different.

Senni grinned as she took another sip of her tea.

"And window ledges aren't, but there you were," she couldn't help but poke at the other woman.

A wink, and she moved to take her footwear from Sar.

Senni heard the familiar derisive snort that slowly bordered on playful before letting go of the offensive boots.

"Ledges are used for leaning. So it can be for sitting too," Saricia countered.

Then she maneuvered around Senni to get utensils and cloth napkins as it was far too expensive to afford disposable ones. The bloated pockets of the upper echelon enjoyed the comforts and wasteful conveniences as regular folk washed and reused. A better preference.

Slowly she eased down to sit, her boots gently placed on the floor next to her feet as her other hand deposited the mug of tea on the table. She watched Sar with a fair bit of curiosity for another few moments before setting about the task of pulling her footwear on and snapping the buckle-hasps. A swift tug at the bottom hem of her trousers, and her pants were pulled over the tops of each boot.

"So then. Today we run errands and go to the Gehr-tassi Gardens. Anything else you had plans for?"

A mental timer went off in Saricia's head and she retrieved the leftovers with a tattered oven mitt. A serving spoon that was at the ready was plucked up on the way back to the table. Saricia scooped the warm vegetables and starches in a partly coagulated cream sauce onto their plates.

It tasted better than it looked.

"Bit of an easy day for me. I'll prep the fabric tonight to work on tomorrow." She took a seat and shrugged the mitt off, "That's really it. Why?"

She took her fork and poked at the food while teasing Senni. "You have places to be we need to fit into our busy schedule?"

Their reheated breakfast looked heavenly, and Senni tucked in with a vengeance, putting away two forkfuls by the the time Sar had asked her teasing question.

"Well," she swallowed, "... not really?"

And truthfully, she couldn't remember the last time she'd had a spell of time that was so... so... lovely. It was simply existing in the moment without worry of some grand or over-arching thing that needed to be seen to or accomplished.

    "Honestly?"

Another bite, and Senni chewed thoughtfully before swallowing.

"It's kind of nice to not have to report in every day."

She'd come to enjoy the time she'd spent with Sar. The other woman was a dedicated humanitarian, but she also payed just as much attention to her own happiness. It was an existence that was worthy and true.

"A trip to a clothing shop would be nice though, I think."

Her garment rotation was admittedly small, owing to the initial parameters of her mission. As such, she'd not packed for a long stay. Now that she'd - for all intents and purposes - moved in with Sar, she needed to expand her wardrobe.

Saricia chewed thoughtfully, offering a small nod of understanding. Being with s'Ilancy and Dan was never anything formal. They became family after plucking her out of an abhorrent situation with the ones she shared blood with. They were mother and father, teaching her more about life as a Jedi and Lupine than ever before, mainly because her grandmother was bonkers. It wasn't her fault. Her grandmum was cursed with the insanity of House Kroenen.

Dan and s'Ilancy gave her freedom but little did Saricia know how much of a prisoner she was ...

"What?" Saricia's thoughts were interrupted because she must have heard her companion incorrectly.

"Clothing shop?" Her face fell into a scowl, almost like the food inside her mouth went sour. "You want to go ... shopping?" She blinked trying to process this. "For ... clothes?"

She made clothes! Why would Senni waste her time shopping when Saricia could make outfits for her?! Was she that terrible of a host? Did the agent harbor a silent grudge for how difficult Saricia made her mission? Senni was to bring her home - to s'Ilancy, but Saricia refused. Maybe all the good nature barbs was just tolerance.

Blinking in slight surprise, Senni sent an almost open-mouthed stare to Sar.

    "... Yes?"

But the tone that Sar had used seemed off, and Senni was instantly on alert. In a manner of speaking, at least.

    "Is that bad?"

Had she said something wrong? Had she made some sort of unknown slight against her host? This was suddenly new territory for her, and unlike navigating the twists and turns of Imperial subterfuge, Saricia Ask'lan was in her own way a very difficult puzzle to solve.
