Denny Colt - The Spirit
Age:36 :: American/Vigilante/Unofficially attached to the GCPD :: Vigilante

Currently in: Gotham

Character Background

  • Denny Colt was a wealthy playboy who was thought to have died, but was actually in a form of suspended animation. As his coffin was being buried, he woke up, and climbed out.
  • Realizing he was living on borrowed time, Denny gave up his life of easy living in order to make a difference in the city he grew up in.
  • Semi-deputized by the GCPD, he's considered a "public secret" by the police, and is generally permitted to do as he pleases.

Raw Material

  • Always wears a blue suit, white shirt, red tie, and blue gloves and fedora. A black domino mask is his only "disguise" from the bad guys.
  • No longer goes by his original name, instead living full-time as The Spirit. Takes up residence in a sort of "Spirt-cave" beneath Gotham Cemetary.
  • No special car, no gadgets, no armor. The Spirit is an old-school boxer and brawler, who settles most fights with his fists, or a brown Oxford shoe.
  • Considers himself a ladies man. Isn't.
  • Wants to restore Gotham to the vision he saw it as, when he was a boy. He's idealistic, and considers himself almost invincible, despite getting his ass whooped in most major fights.

Plot Ideas

  • Meaning to take down a couple small-time thugs, accidentally winds up alerting a whole organization. Hilarious chaos ensues.
  • Team-up with another non-powered vigilante who is used to more "Batman" methods.
  • Team-up with powered vigilante, and gets in way over his head.
  • Facilitate understanding between the GCPD and some of the heroes.
  • General fisticuffs and tavern brawl antics.

Existing Relationships

  • Bruce Wayne - Traveled in some of the same social circles for a while.
  • Commissioner Gordon - The Spirit is the only semi-official vigilante, and while he's considered a joke by most of the GCPD, he does enough good to keep them from giving him the boot.

Current Plots

  • Franks, Fists and Felons - A late-night hankering for an honest hot dog leads The Spirit into some investigation into the Crows.
