'Fans 2014 Weatherpocalypse Thread
Creating a new thread for this since the old one was way back in '11 but a multi-day Severe Weather Event is being forecasted by the Storm Prediction Center for a good chunk of the Midwest and then spreading into the Deep South from Saturday until at least Monday. Probably have at least a few forumites within this warning area.

It's been an incredibly wet winter this last year, and the spring is much the same.
Here's hoping we have no tornados.
The severe weather threat has lessened for Saturday but now extends until at least Tuesday. Our Alabama folk are right in the middle of the problem area for then.
Yeah, from what I was hearing from folks at work, it's going to start getting very bad on Monday morning. Very, very bad.

The one affecting Southern Tuscaloosa County (#3 Quote one post above) is a Tornado Emergency with a confirmed tornado on the ground. The one affecting northeastern Jefferson County (#1 ^) is a public confirmed tornado. The other three are all Doppler radar indicated tornadoes or thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes.
EDIT: They changed the order on me. And I can see the hook echo signature for the South Tuscaloosa Tornado on the Regional Radar View.
Yeah, the one in T-town went right over the top of us (again). I could hear the Hillcrest tornado siren over the sound of the looms. Five minutes later our internal alarms went off. We went into one of the shelters and chilled out for about half an hour.
Made it home without incident, but power is of course out.
Looks like all the bad stuff is past you guys now, with the tornadic action occurring on I-59 between Birmingham and Tennessee.
A look at the current visible satellite imagery of the storm system as it continues to work it's way east. The center of circulation is over SE Minnesota/Western Wisconsin. Right now much of the severe weather is occurring in the Florida Panhandle as well as the Eastern Carolinas, with the Atlantic Coast of the New England States and the northern Midwest getting non-severe storms as well. Some insane flooding going on in the Pensacola area and other places nearby with nearly 22" of rain falling in a 24 hour period.
Looks like there's a bit of an tornado outbreak going on in the Northern Midwest States this evening. There was a very nasty double tornado impact on a town in Central Nebraska earlier. Nebraska is still getting some of the impact, but most of the trouble is being caused by a squall line moving east through northern Iowa/southern Minnesota with a crap-ton of rotation imbedded within it.
Bumping this thread for Tropical Weather. While the Atlantic remains fairly quiet (as forecasted to do so for this year) all of the Pacific Basins (Eastern, Central, and Western) are very active north of the equator. In the Western Pacific, although Super Typhoon Halong is weakening, it is forecasted to remain a Typhoon when it reaches the Ryukyu Islands and then later on Japan itself possibly. Tropical Storm Nakri has fallen apart after hitting South Korea, bringing heavy rains. In the Central Pacific, Tropical Depression Genevieve is forecasted to restrengthen as it approaches the Western Pacific, having originally come from the Eastern Pacific. Hurricane Iselle remains at Category 3 Strength as it approaches the Hawaiian Islands. Although forecasted to make a direct impact on the islands, it is forecasted to weaken to a Tropical Storm by the time it gets there. And another storm is expected to form very soon to the SW of Mexico.

A few of us went outside to gawk, since it was a very humid mid-80's (real-feel at about 95). And without missing a beat we all wondered aloud if there had been a tornado watch issued that none of us had managed to hear about.
Not too much out of the ordinary going on locally but long range models are forecasting a significant El Nino event for this winter, which should make it much more wet and tornadic then normal. (All of Florida's strongest, deadliest, and destructive tornado's have occurred during these cycles).
