Chasing Waterfalls: Liam Jinn

[Gav Mortis]

It was early afternoon and the sun was beating down upon the ground below, the intense heat caused droplets of sweat to form on Gav's brow as he looked on, taking in the panoramic view before him.

He stood on a small mound of stone at the edge of a vast cliff on the outskirts of an enormous plain. He was able to hear the roar of the water as it cascaded over the cliff edge and plummeted with immense force to the ground below, spray was lifted high into the air as the water fell onto the many large rocks and boulders below forming a large rock pool at the base of the waterfall. From it, the river continued, running right through the plain. On one side of the river was an immense, thick forest, a thick blanket of bushy canopies created quite a sight when compared to the desolate land to the other side of the river. There was an old quarry and the soil was hardenned and sun-baked, almost like desert land with scarce plant growth.

The river alongside him surged with a violent pace, the white rapids sometimes spilled onto the bankl of the river, near a pile of logs where tree's had been cut down. Patiently, he waited for the arrival of Jedi Knight, Liam Jinn.

*a slight crunch is heard when a modified Tie Interceptor lands on the ground. A hatch opens and out pops a Liam Jinn who jumps to the ground and has his lightsaber to the side locked in the off position. The Liam looks around and calms himself before walking toward his opponent Gav and smiles*

"now, you sure you can handle this Mortis?"

Gav turns to meet the voice behind him, without words and showing a slight grin on his face and an emotionless look in his eyes, he stepped down from the mound of stones.

His eyes were focused on Jinn as he approached, they narrowed as they surveyed they area in which they were to fight. Gav placed his right boot on his bo which he had concealed in the grass, with a quick pulling of his foot and flicking of his heel he was able to throw the bo into the air at Jinn.

"Here!" he said to the Jedi whom instinctively caught it with both hands.

No sooner had Gav stepped forward as Jinn caught the bo and gripped both of his hands with his own so that Jinn couldn't let go of it. Suprised by this, Jinn tried pulling away but Gav's grip was to strong and so he pulled him forward raising his right knee up into his gut, however preventing Jinn from keeling over in agony by holding the bo up, and so continued to raise his knee into his gut several times more causing Jinns face to redden and eyes to water as his insides were crushed and pounded continuously.

Now gasping for breath, Jinn was weakened by the attack and so Gav took the oppurtunity and took hold of the bo at the centre with both hands, and rotating it with such force that it caused Jinn to let go of it. Gav rotated the bo once more and as one end did rise it collided with the side of Jinn's head, almost cracking his jaw with the force of it.

"Pathetic!" snorted gav as Jinn lost his balance and fell to the ground from the blow, "You should've been far more prepared than this Jedi, I wanted a challenge not a practice dummy!"

As he finished speaking, Gav brought back his large right boot and swinging it forward, buried it deep into Jinn's side, colliding with a kidney upon contact. He writhed in agony from the strenuous blow giving Gav enough time to take a few steps back and taking a defensive stance with his bo.

OOC:

Just incase, this bo is made of a lightweight metal alloy, it is not of lightsaber matter.

IC: *Liam feels the pain going through his body and dulls his nerves through the force barely feeling the pain and stands up.*

"My turn"

*Liam looks to his surroundings and smiles. He backs up away from Gav and, using the force, throws a log towards Gav's back. Gav ducks and smiles as the log misses him and goes for Liam. Liam ignites his saber and throws it where it spins end over end. The saber cuts the incomming log in half and starts spinning wildly towards Gav. While the saber is spinning towards Gav Liam uses the force to catch a half of the chopped log and throw it back towards Gav. Gav jumps up to avoid the saber and is hit with the half log in his left ankle. It makes a crunching noise and brings Gav to the ground. When Gac hits the ground he drops his bo and Liam flings it over the cliff with the force.

"whats the matter Gav? i thought i wasn't going to be a challenge..."

*Liam calls his saber bacck to him with the force and gets closer to the fallen Gav who is now trying to stand. When Liam is close enough he swiftly gives Gav a kick to the face which bloddy's Gav's nose and also forces Gav back to the ground. Liam steps back controlling his pain, lightsaber activated in his hands, and aware of movements with the force*

OOC: Ok, but y'know, that could be misinterpretted! :

IC:

Somewhat frustrated at his own unawareness, Gav wipes the oozing blood from his nose which stung with pain as he did so. He began climbing to his feet with some difficulty, straining on his left foot but the moment he applied pressure to his left leg he jerk his anke and there was an immediate clicking sound as his bones snapped back into place, he sighed with satisfaction.

"That feels much better!" he exclaimed wearing a narrow grin, his eyes concentrating on Jinn before him.

"Now, would you like your death to be quick and painless or slow, enduring and agonising?" he asked sarcastically. Jinn answered with his silence, indicating he meant business, but so did Gav.

Calmly, Gav slipped his cloak from his large shoulders and allowed it to drape to his side as he removed it, holding it in his left hand.

"Now you see me..." he said an instantaneously lifted his left hand holding his cloak and threw it at the Jedi, whom was unable to see Gav for a split second due to the large cloak coming tpowards him until he sliced through it with his lightsaber. However when the cloak was separated in two, Gav was nowhere to be seen and it was at that moment Jinn heard movement behind him.

Jinn instinctively jumped a foot into the air, avoiding a leg sweep from behind and as he landed he pivoted and swung his lightsaber around ready to decapitate his attacker, however his swing was suddenly stopped as Gav gripped his wrist holding the saber. Suddenly, Jinn felt a powerful kick landed into his stomach as his saber was held in the air and he was unable to defend. He keeled over out of breath and his lightsaber and hands were released, so Gav brought that same left leg over the bending Jedi and slammed it into the back of his neck causing him to collapse to the floor.

As he fell, Gav revealed a sai dagger from his clothing and the moment Jinn hit the ground Gav impaled the hand which held the lightsaber causing him to release it. He winced in agony as his hand was embedded to the floor and blood oozed from the wound.

"Considering you threw my bo over the edge of the cliff, I'll extend you the same courtesy with your lightsaber."

So Gav walked to the edge of the cliff and threw it into the cascading water, the blade deactivating as it was soaked and clanged on rocks on it's way down before splashing into the water below.

He turned and moved several metres away from the edge of the cliff, once he had gained a safe distance he watched and waited with a sadistic pleasure as he saw Jinn wincing in pain as he pulled the dagger out of the palm of his left hand.

OOC: dont get weird on me Gav! :

IC: Liam feels the pain in his hand as the daggar is removed but barely shows it in his face; he would not dare give Gav the satisfaction. Liam uses the daggar to cut a sleeve off and wrap his hand, before Gav manages to attack.

"Come on Mortis, lets see how "quick" or "slow" you will make my death"

Gav leaps at Liam, who is now standing, and kicks for his head. Liam ducks and uppercuts Gav in the crotch (with his good hand) which sends Gav flying a few feet away from Liam. Liam concentrates on controlling the pain from the kicks and his hand and moves towards Gav. Gav stands up swings at Liams head but only succedes in hitting the dagger that was once in Liams hand. Gav backs away and looks down at the dagger lodged in his wrist and lets out a scream, while Gav is screaming Liam makes sure that he has a firm grip on the daggar with the force. Liam gives Gav a little push backwards towards the edge of the cliff with the force, and before Gav falls on his back Liam rips the daggar from Gav's wrist with the force, letting Gav feel more pain and getting Gav closer to the edge. Liam throws the daggar over the edge of the cliff and smiles...

"Well, we're even for now..."

[Gav Mortis]

Gripping his arm in agony, sweat tricling from his lined brow under the strain of the lethal wound in his wrist Gav backs away from the cautiously approaching Jedi. He cups his hand and without moving his eyes from Jinn, he feels a pool of blood gather in his hand as it continuously trickles from his wrist.

"Well you were right about one thing Jinn, now we're even, unfortunately, for you, that's about to change. But you'll never see it coming..." he said, and as he did he swung his arm towards the unexpecting Jedi and threw the blood accumulated in his hand into Jinn's eyes.

The viscous blood stung his eyes and he reeled back from the attack however Gav was ready for this and moving forward he grabbed Jinn's loose Jedi robes on his shoulders and by rolling backwards with him still his grasp they both went over the edge of the cliff.

They both began to plumet from the cliff edge however Gav suddenly mule kicked Jinn in the gut so that they were no longer embraced and stretching out, Gav took hold of the bo he had carefully wrenched into rock in the cliffside with the force earier.

He strains to hold on and as he pulls himself upwards, impaling his second sai dagger into the rock he lifted himself up back onto the summit of the cliff, taking a look down he saw Jinn disappear far below into the cascading water of the powerful waterfall.

Taking a few steps away from the edge of the cliff, Gav collapses with loss of blood and so by taking his lightsaber, he ignited it and carefully held the black, humming blade close to his wrist. He cringed in pain as the searing heat from the blade burned his wound closed.

"Argh!" he moaned, finally de-igniting the saber and holding it tight, resting from exhaustion of blood loss in the long grass.

As Gav lays fallen in the grass, A whine of a ship can be heard. Liam's Tie flys over Gav and plunges straight down the side of the cliff disappearing from view. A few moments pass and the ship returns, carrying a very wet and battered Liam on its wing. The ship goes back to its original place and Liam falls to the ground but stands back up, now with one arm and leg broken in many places. Liams face shows no pain but shows emmense concentration. In Liams good hand he holds the daggar that was thrown over the cliff. Liam, without saying a word closes his eyes and, as slowly as he can, he sits down in the grass.

"Mortis, this fight, is far from over. You will not get the best of me. The fall may have damaged me phisically, but it doesn't change anything. The force protects me, the light side of the force. You're dark powers cannot match this peace I feel, pain is irrelivant at this point, just an obstical to over come."

With that the winds pick up and Liam falls into deep concentration. As the winds get stronger, Gav stands weakly. His fresh blood on the grass gets closer and closer to the cliff's edge, while Liam, sits calmly, eyes closed and steadily increases the winds speed. Gav realises that if he waits much longer he too, would be heading over the edge of the cliff. He gathers up his energy and charges towards the Jedi. Gav makes a leap towards Liam but sees his mistake in that because the winds have picked up too much speed. He is thrown backwards but not before he throws his saber at Liam. The saber ignites and tumbles with precise accuracy at Liam, almost cutting through the wind. Liam opens his eyes to see the saber comming for him and with his good arm, throws the daggar. As painful as it was to throw the daggar Liam shows no pain. The daggar meets the sabers handle mid air and tears through it. The saber deactivates, one half flying one way, the other not trailing far behind it. The knife soars through the air past Gav and over the cliffside. Gav, who is tumbling towards the cliff's edge, manages to grip part of the soil he is on and hold's his position for a moment longer as he notices 3 logs comming straight for him. He looks at Liam, who is now smiling, and screams in frustration and anger. He lets go and flies backwards over the cliffs edge, the logs, some greenery, and his bo, following him down. He twists while following noticing, the water is thrashing about violently, almost as if it had a mind of it own. Gav hits the water ferosously and the everything behind him crashing into the waters as well. The winds die down a bit and Liam lets out a small smile, still concentrating deep in the force. His pain slowly dies and Liam feels content for the moment.

"Gav, you now have experanced what I went through, well I put a bit more into your fall but an eye for an eye Gav."

Gav's back smacked the water hard however if it wasn't for him swinging his arms around and slapping the water surface in order to reduce the damage of the fall he would've snapped his spine. Unfortunately, by doing this he snapped his left wrist back from the force of the fall and dislocated his right thigh from his hip. He just about managed to get deep enough under water before the logs came crashing in after him, however as he rose one of the heavier logs smacked his temple and he began to lose conciousness.

Struggling in the powerful currents, he pulled himself ashore and collapsed on the bank, gasping for breath, exhausted and unable to stand. He was well aware of Jinn as he sat atop the cliff in a meditative state, gradually healing the fractures in his bones. He was unable to reach him physically, however through the force, nothing was impossible.

Slipping into unconciousness, he was able to release his subconciousness into the fabric of the force and reach upwards towards the summit of the cliff where Jinn was as was his ship.

The Jedi was suddenly disturbed as he sensed an accumulation of kinetic energy being transfered through the force, when suddenly, his ship which was some distanced from him was jerked across the ground some deveral metres, creating huge mud tracks in the ground behind it as it scraped along. Again, it was dragged nearer and nearer to the now standing Jedi who was moving aside, getting out of it's way.

The ship was now a few metres away from the retreating Jedi, who suddenly stopped moving and looked up, suprised as the light from the sky was dimmed by a thick and heavy accumulation of grey clouds which had been nearing for some time now.

The Jedi was somewhat bewlidered by the sequence of events when suddenly the was a bright flash of light as a powerful lightning bolt ripped through the clouds and streaked down through the sky and with a mighty explosion of energy it struck the stationary ship's engines which instaneously was torn apart ferociously. Accompanied by an immense blast of fire which caught Jinn and threw him into the air and off the side of the cliff. He tumbled down, his skin being incinerated as his clothing was alight and he strained to control under the pain. Just before he smacked the water below a small chunk of hull hit his head, renering him partially unconcious.

Once in the river, the flames engulfing his body were extinguished and he was carried by the overwhelming currents downstream semi-concious.

With one last sigh, Gav fell completely unconcious, all of his bones ached, his brain hammered against his skull and he collapsed flat on the groung, from exhaustion as a result of massive blood loss earlier.

Liam finally surfaces gasping for air. He floats, more than swims, to one wing from his ship and holds onto. A few minutes later, Liam floats to a nice dry bank of the river. He pulls himself and the wing under a nearby tree but before he passes out he grabs an object from the river

"My lightsaber...finally, some luck..."

Liam crawls back to his spot under a tree and goes into a jedi healing trance

The last sound he heard before he lost consciousness was at the rushing of the river as it passed nearby and after that the sound faded away to silence, this was accompanied by darkness and soon Gav lost complete consciousness. As his mind slipped away the last thing he could remember was the aching all over his body, through his bones and in his head; therefore he knew as his mind entered subconsciousness that he needed a great amount of rest before the fight could continue.

Some hours later, Gav awoke to the refreshing feeling of the cold spray coming from the waterfall. Gradually, his eyesight returned although blurred at first he sat up resting his head between his knees only to find that his hip ached and he realised that he had dislocated his thigh bone, therefore he turned on to his side putting an enormous amount of pressure on his hip, a sharp pain in accompanied the arching of his back and with a quick jerk of his waist the bone snapped back into place. Wincing in discomfort, he began to rotate his left wrist listening to the popping sound of his bones as the realigned, after 15 minutes of doing this most of the bones were back in the original place however one of the bones had snapped and therefore he had to tear some material from his sleeve and bandage his left wrist up with it.

"He will die for what he has caused me, I will rip him apart like I did to his ship!" he said whilst limping towards the river bank in order to wash his face and hands.

There he sat, looking into the water and waiting for the arrival of his opponent, when suddenly he noticed buried in the river bed his dagger which had been thrown from the cliff earlier. It took very little effort to call his weapon to his hand with the force and taking a moment to dry it off then tucking it away in his robing.

Feeling exhausted and in need of refreshment, Gav moved toward the waterfall, stepped into pool and before it got too deep removed the upper part of his clothing before stepping on to some rocks behind the cascade of water and relaxed in the misty spray it gave off.

*Liam wakes up 5 days later from his healing trance. His bones had reset themselves and rapidily repaired, yet they were still weak. Liam slowly and painfully stands to his feet, noticing his burns had also been healing.*

"Mortis, this battle has just begun!!"

*Liam clenched his lightsaber in his hand as he raised it into the air as if threatening the sky. A few hours later Liam reset the focusing crystal in his saber with the force, and mananged to find some animal that seemed edibal enough. After his meal, Liam walked back to the water and freshed himself up a bit, his healing through the force still continuing. Liam looks up from the water and sends a message to Gav through the force.."Mortis, you may have destroyed my ship with your pathetic cheap sith tricks, but you will not destroy me. I will come hunting for you in 3 days, if you are smart you would run, but knowing you, you'll try to hunt me. Do not bother, lets make this last battle an equal one, both be at the peak conditions we can get in...."..Liam sighs as he understands that he needs to concintrate in the days to come*
