Multiple-Cover Madness

So what's with Star Wars comics, novels, etc. having multiple covers? I think what is even more disturbing is that so many ppl buy multiple copies of the same literature just to get all the different covers. Everyone's got to have an opinion on THIS one....

I don't mind there being multiple covers, but to buy more than one copy of the same story just to have each cover? That's just ridiculous.

They just want people (collectors) to think that we have to buy every single one or we're missing out. Stupid I say. I onlybought 1 copy of TPM, my leather bound autographed copy at the SW Celebration.

I only bought one copy of TPM too - the one with Obi-wan on the front. I reckon it would make more sense just to flog the front cover of each book rather than buy the same thing multiple times.
