Suspected changes from the original ANH film?

I have a chance in the near future to see a copy of ANH on 16 mm film from 1977. This is certainly before any edits or scene changes. I've heard a lot of talk about people remembering seeing different scenes when they saw ANH during the original release. What should I look for?

First thing is Luke in the Death Star throwing his grappling hook, missing, then throwing it again. I'm 99% sure this happened and was edited out in later releases.

    Anything else?

i'd like to see the scenes from BTM added to the dvd version. they were interesting to watch, but i think they were also a little too long and pointless for the movie.

I think there is one in ANH where Luke is going to put the restraining bolt on 3PO but the droid shys away and Luke gives up.

That'll be cool, let us know how it is!

You won't see Episode IV on the opening crawl if it's an early version. That's the first major difference you should be able to spot.

there was no episode iV because george wasn't sure if he was going to do any other film; it depended on the success of ANH.

I suspect that if you are going to get a 16mm copy of the film, you will only be getting a 20 minute version of the film that was available in 1979. All of the secondary scenes are cut and the only things that remain are the keys plot points.

Well, I'm not too positive, but sometime in the next month or so, hopefully. I have a friend who collects old 16 mm films, and he was showing me some original Charlie Chaplin and Three Stooges when he mentioned offhand that he had some more recent stuff, too, like Star Wars. After seeing my reaction, he promised to show it to me sometime!
