The first book of the adventures of "Dunk and Egg" by GRRM. In this book Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon Targaryen the 5th team up as Knight and Squire to travel Westeros. The story is set 90 years before a song of Ice and Fire.

The German publisher who owns the rights to the Song of Ice and Fire published a compilation of all 3 short stories by GRRM that so far have been only available in 3 seperate anthologies. So far this is really enjoyable since the world is basicly the same as in aSoIaF but the stakes are not that high. This does not mean that it does not have the typical GRRM twists and death toll.

Just finished Steelheart and The Alloy of Law both of which I assumed were stand alone books by Brandon Sanderson because of the other book series he has going on but NO there are obviously plans for more and I'm glad because they were excellent.

If you haven't read any Sanderson you should immediately. The Alloy of Law takes place 300 or so years after the events of his Mistborn (very good) trilogy in the same world, where they are now comparable to our 1800s, and it is pretty awesome. I love his idea of taking the fantasy world and progressing it to a modern age (another planned trilogy of which The Alloy of Law is not a part) and then to a futuristic society.

Steelheart is his take on a superhero story and it's great.

After finishing rereading 'Guards! Guards!' I started 'Death Troopers', by Joe Schreiber, and immediately fell in love with it. It's not overly complex but reads very much like a loving fan fiction that the likes of us here at 'Fans might write. I can't help but feel that this book takes place outside of the canon, what with it's on the spot invented races and more modern plot elements; but it is still distinctly Star Wars. I've only gone a few short chapters in but I can't wait to read more. It goes down smooth.

Was a slow reader this month. Still reading Star Wars Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void by Tim Lebbon, and also started The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.

Just finished Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp (the novel that was the basis for Die Hard.) I've just started The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep. In the background I'm reading The Signal and the Noise by Nate Silver and The Idiot by Dostoyevsky. I always have a couple of books going on at once. Some weeks I get a lot more reading done than others.

Untie the Strong Woman: Blessed Mother's Immaculate Love for the Wild Soul by Clarissa Pinkola Estés

I've picked this one up again after having caught up with several other books. Very interesting so far, though my heart still belongs to Estés's other book Women Who Run With the Wolves.
