Are you talking EU novels, or any Star Wars book?

Magic of Myth is probably my favorite. I love knowing about the things that inspired the themes and characters in SW.

After that, I LOVED the 'Art of Episode 1 - 3' books.

I also liked the 3 'Making of' books on the prequels.

I've got several vintage books, including a sketchbook of ANH, a pop-up book of RotJ, and the 3 original storybooks.

I gave away all my EU novels years ago after I got sick of reading that stuff. But Shadows of the Empire is the one I liked the most.

Best Sw books is probably the Heir to the Empire triology.

As far as a EU trilogy goes, yes, that is by far the best ever written.

The Ultimate Visual Guide to Star Wars.

As for EU, I've only read the Zahn trilogy and a few others here and there - the Zahn books were really good.

Zahn is the best EU Star Wars Author, he has captured the series the best among the writers. His other four books he wrote dealing wtih Star Wars are better than 95% of the EU.

I would start with Heir to the Empire and finish that trilogy. He also wrote a duology starting with Spectar of the past. He has also wrote two books on the Outbound Flight both of them are pretty cool, especially the one that deals with Thrawn we finally get more of his backstory.

Outbound Flight is awesome - any Zahn book qualifies as my favorite, even the ones I haven't read.

Both the Han Solo trilogies are pretty good. I have a soft spot for the 80's Han and Lando trilogies. The Solo trilogy from just a few years ago is pretty good as well. Hard for me to pick a fav, but the Zahn novels were some of the best written. His name usually means you're getting an above average EU novel.

On the non EU side I love the two mammoth Chronicles novels. They're gorgeous!

The Thrawn Trilogy (aka. the Zahn Trilogy as some here have called it).

Although the prequels have mucked around with some details (eg. the clone wars, stormtroopers etc) it's still a fantastic read.
