The YT-1930 was a moderately successful YT-series light freighter that was released by the Corellian Engineering Corporation shortly before the Battle of Yavin.


The design of the YT-1930 was a variant on the successful YT-1300 light freighter, but placed the cockpit along the center line of the ship, and added two wedge-shaped cargo areas at the rear to double the cargo capacity of its predecessor. Most came with a single laser cannon turret. Though some considered it to be the pinnacle of the YT-series, the YT-1930 never gained the following the older freighter design had.

The Black Wyvern has passed hands between several no-name rogues after it was nearly destroyed and then rebuilt. The ship had once been known as the Carmine Fenrir and had a supposed curse upon it but only one, maybe two, of the current crew members is aware of that part of history.

Currently the ship is notorious in the Core Worlds for harboring a terrorist crew led by an anarchic Force Adept. It has been spotted sporadically throughout the galaxy with no apparent agenda. Nar Shadda ports have sanctions against allowing the Wyvern port access but the ship has appeared under different names or right under port authorities' noses several times. The ship itself has not seen many reported dog fights in space but some would argue that the lack of information means something in and of itself. The ship is a duller grey than a typical light freighter of which some ask why is the Black Wyvern not schemed black. The embedded sensormask modification and the decoy emitter cause shadows in most regular sensor systems and make the Wyvern extremely hard to track in space.
