True Calling
It had been six long and dreadful weeks aboard the Star Destroyer Termagent that Miranda Tarkin had to endure. Her only reprieve was spewing out dogmatic rhetoric to promote Imperial unity in hopes to rally the common citizen to take up arms against the Rebellion. The imitative wasn't progressive, nor the magical savior to the Empire's problem. It was just pretty words used to get people in jobs that the government and military desperately needed to keep the machine running effectively. By all counts, it should have floundered and died but Miranda spun her words around so effectively that she had the citizens dancing like puppets.
That was why COMPNOR had chosen her for the tour. Miranda had a way of turning a rotten egg into an edible meal without becoming sick. It was just infuriating that the Empire wouldn't use her talents to the fullest! She was delegated to her station for the rest of her life because she was female. If not for that fact, she could easily have made a bid for the throne. Instead, she had to rely on her name to get the money and power that she had today, which was peanuts as far as she was concerned. Miranda loved the Empire as much as her father and grandfather, but because of it's chauvinistic views, her potential was wasted, doomed to fizzle and die ... Much like the Empire was heading since Palpatine's death. Something needed to be done and soon, otherwise the Rebellion was going to win.
She steered her Baudo-class star yacht, fondly named the Koriolos, towards the 160-meter long yacht before her named the Xiombarg. Sorsha had left word to meet her here once Miranda had settled in from her long trip. They had been separated for far too long.
"Koriolos to Xiombarg. Sorsha's expecting me." Miranda tapped at the console until her clearance vector was verified.
Confirm Koriolos. Welcome back Miss Tarkin. The Boss is very happy that you're home. Docking bay 1 has been cleared for your shuttle.
"Thank you. Koriolos out." She cut the engines to a quarter and eased her yacht alongside the larger yacht, matching it's orbit around Coruscant. She left her personal crew in charge until she returned and boarded an Imperial shuttle, it was given to her as one of the few perks for working with the Empire, and flew on the given vector. Upon entering the docking bay, and as promised, she saw not a single ship, shuttle or fighter. What she did see was Sorsha with a small entourage waiting a safe distance near the blast doors. For the first time in six weeks, Miranda smiled genuinely as the ship touched down.

"Welcome home, my Sweet." purred Sorsha as she walked up to her lover and reveled in a kiss.

Perhaps a month ago Miranda would have politely held Sorsha at bay, but things change. She welcomed the boldness and returned the kiss fervently, something Miranda hadn't done before in public.
She pulled away slowly and looked deeply into her love's eyes as if looking at them for the first time. "It's been too long. I've missed you."

Miranda giggled at Sorsha's antics, who was being quite adorable. Though the thought of her tour easily wipe away her good cheer and created a loathsome scowl. "It was terrible. The only good thing about it was staying aboard a Star Destroyer but as usual, some unruly pilots even had to ruin that."

"Oh? I trust they were suitably disciplined and cast into space."
:: A round of laughter came from her small entourage and she winked ::

"Disciplined, yes." Her eyes grew aggravated. "Spaced? No."
Normally Sorsha's good nature was eventually infectous towards Miranda, but not as of yet. Well, for a little it had been when greeting her lover but Miranda's own mood was still terribly soured by the entire six week ordeal.

:: Sorsha sighed, then she smiled ::
"Anyway, you're just in time for a feast."

"A feast?" Miranda asked as she entwined her arm around Sorsha's. "Last time that happened you had me running scared."
This time her voice held a touch of playfulness.

"Of course!" Sorsha laughed. "In honor of your return home."
:: The doors to the throne room opened and Sorsha's musicians broke into a revel with pipes and drums as they entered ::

The eloquent Miranda was speechless. Sorsha had out done herself with decorating the throne room in festive streamers and ribbons. The amount of food was exuberant and smelled utterly delicious. She even went to the length of bringing on board her favorite entertainers who's loud and cheerful chords brought out another smile on Miranda's face.
She tightened her hold around Sorsha's arm and spoke awed, "You really didn't have to do this."
It was like day had quickly become night in her life. The bureaucratic nonsense of six weeks had been peeled back into an enormous celebration ... and it was exactly what she needed.

Miranda sat down next to Sorsha and buried her face within her hands. "You are insane!"
Which was soon followed by a joyous laugh.

And this time, Sorsha made certain to keep the hot and spicy foods far away from Miranda's side of the table. Everyone ate and drank merrily. Even several low ranked Enforcers offered a toast to welcome back Miranda from her journey. An act that was welcomed and appreciated since it was said truthfully, not some mockery of protocol that forced people to like her. It had always been that way since Sorsha had risen through the ranks of the Assassin Guild and then Black Sun.

Miranda kicked her legs up onto the dinner table and leaned back in her chair comfortably. She would never dare to do this in public. It was so unlady like. "Thank you for this. You always know when I need cheering up."

Her eyes narrowed in dislike of Sorsha's comment. "You do not serve me. I hate it when you say things like that. What you built here is from your blood and sweat. I'm just the one making sure you got to the top because I love you."

"You evade the question, my sweet." she countered politely.
